Training Tuesdays are where we highlight a member of our organization and their recent training accomplishments. The purpose of these posts is to give recognition to the hard work and dedication our members give to the community they serve.
This week’s recognition goes to Deputy Fire Chief Brett Fassnacht.
Chief Fassnacht first joined us in August of 1997 and was a member through 2002. He later rejoined in late 2016 and continues to serve through present day.
Chief Fassnacht has a host of training certifications which range from Emergency Medical Technician, Fire Fighter II, Fire Officer IV, and a plethora of others. Most recently, he achieved his Fire Instructor III and is currently working toward his Hazardous Materials Technician certification.
Chief Fassnacht also holds an Associate’s Degree in Fire Science from Columbia Southern University and is working toward his Bachelor’s Degree in Emergency Management.
Brett is an essential part of Lafayette’s day-to-day operations, and his fire service experience and credentials make him an excellent mentor for newer members to look up to.
Outside of the Firehouse
Brett doesn’t just stop his emergency service with Lafayette. In his day job, he is the Operations Manager for the Lancaster County Department of Public Safety 9-1-1 Emergency Communications Center.
Brett enjoys taking classes and expanding his knowledge in a variety of subjects. He also enjoys reading, watching sports, and spending time with his family. Brett is also quite the history nut. He enjoys expanding his hat collection and fire apparatus photography.
Please join us in congratulating Deputy Chief Fassnacht for all of his amazing accomplishments and in his future goals. He has dedicated hundreds, maybe thousands, of hours to better himself and better serve the community he lives in.
Thank you, Chief!
