Recently our Pre-Incident Planning Team has been evaluating properties with driveways longer in length within our run district. Identifying these properties with longer driveways helps us determine how much supply hose is required to adequately supply a fire scene with water.
Throughout the next few months, members of the team will be going around and taking measurements of driveways in question (especially in our non-hydranted portions) and placing signs similar to these at the end of each driveway (with permission from the property owner of course).
These 2 signs will be heading to Plant #2 at High Steel. About 6 months ago, the company answered a fire within Plant #2 and ran out of hose completing the lay back the driveway. Therefore, with the addition of these signs units will be aided with a marker to start laying hose and ultimately split lay with another unit to a hydrant.
