This Evening, the volunteers headed to the Lancaster County Public Safety Center to refresh on Confined Space Rescues. Teams of 2 made entry into the training building through a narrow pipe and worked to locate a downed civilian in the building.
A confined space has limited or restricted means for entry or exit and is not designed for continuous occupancy. Confined spaces could present multiple different hazards including atmospheric, Flammable, and Physical hazards. Crews sampled for these hazards through air monitoring and ventilated the work area with positive pressure ventilation.
These types of emergencies do not happen very often, therefore it is critical to fresh our skills on the subject matter.
In a few weeks, we will be going to High Steel Structures LLC for the second half of this training.
