Two moments stand out this week: a village-wide recap of 25 calls and a closer look at our live-in trainee, Elijah Howell.
A Week of Service and Skill
This week, Lafayette Fire Company shared a focused look at the busy week our volunteers logged across a variety of calls, training, and community presence. Our crews answered 25 calls from 8/17 through 8/23, with activity clustered around morning and late afternoon hours. Alongside responding to emergencies, our members continued training, staffed the fire house, and connected with neighbors at community events. In parallel, we’re highlighting one of our newer live-in firefighters as part of our ongoing training culture that keeps Station 63 ready to serve Lancaster, PA with dependable, neighbor-focused service.
We publish these weekly notes from the social-sharing archive to give our neighbors a window into life at Station 63—where every shift blends readiness with a steady commitment to the community we serve.
Meet Elijah Howell: A Live-In Firefighter on the Rise
Every Tuesday we spotlight a member of our organization and their latest training achievements. This week we introduceElijah Howell, our rookie live-in firefighter for the 2026-2027 school year. Elijah joined us in May and brings prior service from Orwigsburg Fire Company in Schuylkill County. He’s balancing college at Thaddeus Stevens College of Technology, where he’s pursuing a diesel mechanics degree for 2027, with part-time work as a mechanic.
Elijah holds Essentials of firefighting, Hazardous Materials Awareness/Operations, CPR, first aid, and AED certifications. He’s actively working through his rookie book and additional training to become an interior firefighter, contributing to daytime and nighttime responses as part of our team.
