Late this afternoon, Lafayette said goodbye to the 1991 Spartan/Saulsbury Pumper formerly known as Engine 631 as it began it's journey to a new home with the Massie Township Fire Dept. in Harveysburg Ohio where it will serve as the primary rescue unit. The engine has served Lafayette since new. It ran as the first out unit to all responses from 1991 to 1997 when the "first out" responsibilities were split between this engine and the 1978 Mack. From 1997 to 2009 it was our primary rescue unit and was instrumental in many life saving extrications. While E1 will be missed, we are glad that it will continue to provide years of service to its new community. Engine 1 will arrive in Massie Twp. tomorrow and we are certain will be well received.
